About Camp Gunnison

Camp Gunnison 1976

Camp Acquisition

The Way International is a worldwide, nondenominational Biblical research, teaching, and fellowship ministry. In 1976, the founder and first president of The Way, Dr. Victor Paul Wierwille, and his wife, Dorothea, were believing God to find a location that would enrich and support the spiritual development of believers. They came upon a camp called “Sleepy Hollow,” nestled in the heart of the Colorado Rocky Mountains. Impressed with the beauty, love, and heart evident in the property, which was secluded yet accessible, Dr. Wierwille conferred with the ministry leadership and ultimately acquired the camp on a handshake. It was renamed “Camp Gunnison—The Way Family Ranch,” and on July 17, 1977, it was officially dedicated to the glory of God and the outreach of His Word.

Camp Purpose

Camp Gunnison is a very special ranch where followers of The Way and their guests from around the world attend a wide variety of camps and special events. It is a place where individuals and families can stay to rest and recharge while taking advantage of the Gold Medal fishing waters of the Gunnison River, the abundant wildlife, and the magnificent scenery. Camp Gunnison is also an ideal location for students of the ministry’s leadership training program to develop skills for lifelong service.
